Head of In-House Legal

Knowledge/skills:
- Drafting supplemental trust deeds, short agreements, powers of attorney, tenancy agreements and other legal documents
- Document management to include the proper use of tracking amendments into documents
- Drafting instructions to external lawyers and to Counsel and attending conferences with the same
- Reviewing Notices such as Production Orders from the Law Officers’ Department in Jersey to ensure Notices / Summonses properly served and enforceable and case managing and co-ordinating the collation of documents in conjunction with the Equity Compliance Department
- Providing legal advice to the trustees in Jersey and Guernsey on offshore trust and company matters (including Jersey, Guernsey and BVI law) as and when required
- Conducting case management of litigious cases with external lawyers to include: drafting instructions; attending case management meetings; co-ordinating lawyers where multi-jurisdictional case; attending court and writing regular reports for the Equity Board
- Liaising with third party professional advisers (such as tax advisers) in the management of cases with tax issues
- Managing legal team in Jersey (currently comprising 3 lawyers and 2 paralegals)
Qualifications:
- Qualified lawyer (preferably Jersey or English)
- 3 + years pqe
- At least 1 year’s experience in a commercial environment
