Requirements:
- Liaise with external counsel across multiple jurisdictions to obtain legal opinions concerning updates/changes to all GWS standard documentation
- Liaise with external counsel to obtain legal opinions for global projects (e.g. outsourcing, electronic trust servicing, etc.) and assist in resolving ongoing business issues and enhancements to our procedures due to market legislative changes impacting our existing business.
- Liaise with GWS Sales Consultants, TRMs and Trust Administration teams on new business proposals to assist external counsel with their drafting of specially customized GWS product offerings where appropriate.
- Provide legal assistance to the Product Development, Risk Assessment and Wealth Transfer Planning teams.
- Partner with Legal to monitor the status and facilitate the resolution of outstanding litigation matters for the region.
- Reporting to the Head of GWS Product Development, Management & Risk Assessment, research complex risk-related issues, and provide supplemental analyses and recommendations for decision/informational purposes.
Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in law or JD
- Minimum of 7 + years legal experience
- Strong knowledge of Trust and Fiduciary products and services and an ability to understand legal and tax planning concepts; knowledge of legal/regulatory environment in core markets.
- Excellent research skills; an ability to read, analyze, interpret and apply technical concepts for the purpose of advising and/or decision risk-related matters
